NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Over a dozen children were injured Tuesday morning when a large inflatable slide was lifted into the air at a Long Island park, according to officials.

Suffolk County Police were called to Wyandanch Park on Mount Avenue in Wyandanch on reports of a blow-up slide tipping over at around 9:45 a.m., officials said.
Officials treated 11 of the 18 children injured at the scene. There were also seven children taken to the hospital. Among the injuries was a boy who suffered a broken leg, according to police.
None of the injuries were life-threatening, authorities said.

The children are elementary school students who were at the park as part of the Wyandanch School District's field day.
Parents watched in horror as the slide flew into the air.
“The left side of the bounce house lifted up,” a witness said. “And when it lifted up, you saw him go over first. You saw the other little girl holding on for dear life. It was horrible. And then other kids followed.”
Parents said the slide wasn’t being properly monitored.
An investigation remains ongoing.
