PORT JEFFERSON STATION, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- A couple was arrested on Long Island on Sunday in the stabbing death of a man whose body was found in 2021.
Jose Martinez-Vazquez, 24, and Tiffany Diaz-Cabrera, 20, were charged with second-degree murder in the death of Benjamin Flores-Mendez, 39, whose body was found on June 17, 2021 at about 1 a.m. on the Greenway Trail, near Clifton Place, according to detectives.
Martinez-Vazquez and Diaz-Cabrera are boyfriend and girlfriend, authorities said.
Officials have not given any potential motive for Flores-Mendez's death.
Martinez-Vazquez was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct in Selden. Diaz-Cabrera was held overnight at the Fourth Precinct in Smithtown.
Both were scheduled for arraignment on Monday in First District Court in Central Islip.
