LI man threatens police officer with assault rifle in phone call: officials

OCEANSIDE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Long Island officials arrested a man Thursday night who threatened to hurt an officer with an assault rifle, authorities said.

According to police, a Nassau County sergeant placed a telephone call to follow up on a complaint submitted by 34-year-old Donald Schreiner.

During the call the defendant threatened to harm an officer with an assault rifle that he owned.

The sergeant and two officers responded to Schreiner's home and placed him under arrest.

The rifle was located and taken from the scene.

No injuries were reported.

Schreiner was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon and aggravated harassment.
