A photo tweeted by Hochul on Sunday night shows the governor smiling from ear to ear as she looks down at her adorable granddaughter, Sofia.

“Welcome to the world, Sofia!” Hochul tweeted. “My son Billy and daughter-in-law Christina are going to be the best parents — this new grandma couldn’t be happier.”

The 63-year-old governor was still beaming in the Bronx on Monday morning as she and Sen. Chuck Schumer held a news conference about housing investments for Co-op City.

“I just became a grandma,” Hochul told the crowd from her podium.

“[Schumer’s] been telling me there’s nothing as amazing as being a grandparent,” Hochul said.

“But we both agreed—fixing Co-op City might be right up there as number two,” she then quipped.

Schumer, 71, became a granddad in 2018 after his daughter and her husband welcomed a baby boy, Noah. The senator wished his grandson a happy birthday when he turned 3 years old in November.
