NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- One person is in custody after a shootout involving police ended in a crash on a Long Island street early Tuesday, according to authorities.
Just before 1 a.m., Nassau County officials attempted to stop the driver of a dark-colored vehicle but he refused to pull over, cops said.

There were shots fired at police who then returned fire, authorites said.
The suspect drove to Nassau Road and Arthur Street in Uniondale where the vehicle crashed.
The suspect fled on foot and was taken into custody following a brief chase on foot, police said.
An officer was taken to Nassau University Medical Center and treated for minor injuries.
Charges are pending, and an investigation is ongoing.
The reasons officials tried to stop the vehicle remain unknown.
