NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police in Yonkers are searching for a group of suspects who beat and stomped on a male victim during a “gang assault” on Thursday, leaving him in critical condition with a brain injury.
A group of attackers beat the victim in the head with a bottle and stomped on him near North Broadway and Ashburton Avenue Thursday night, Yonkers police said.
The victim, whose age wasn’t released, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to police. As of Friday, he was in critical condition in the trauma ward with a brain injury, the department said.
Surveillance footage taken from the scene shows a crowd of people watching the attack. Some of the suspects are “known gang members,” police said.
“The Yonkers Police Department have made several arrests, but there are more suspects that need to be held accountable for their despicable actions,” the department said in a statement. “Well over 50 people last night saw what happened, and we need them to come forward and do the right thing.”
Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call the Yonkers Police Department at 914-377-7724.
