Authorities on Monday arrested 56-year-old Nusrat J. Ameen, 56, a head teacher at “I Can Kids” Childcare on Route 1 North in Edison.

Ameen was charged with abuse and neglect after detectives determined she had “physically assaulted” a two-year-old child on July 28, while she worked at the daycare, Ciccone and Edison police Chief Thomas Bryan said in a statement.

The incident was reported to authorities on Friday, July 29, Middlesex County officials said.

Ameen has been employed by “I Can Kids” for twelve years, officials said.
