MIDDLETOWN, N.J. (WCBS 880) -- Two thieves reportedly tried to steal a Land Rover from the garage of Gov. Phil Murphy’s neighbor on Sunday afternoon.

The men tried to kick in the garage door of the neighbor’s home off Navesink River Road in Middletown Township around 3:30 p.m., according to a police report obtained by News 12 on Tuesday.

The men fled empty-handed after someone saw them. They were last seen speeding away in a white BMW SUV and remain at large.

Upscale communities along Navesink River Road have reportedly become a target for thieves since they can quickly flee to the Garden State Parkway.
