JERSEY CITY, N.J. (WCBS 880) -- A lost Brooklyn puppy turned up in Jersey City, where he was rescued from the ledge of a Home Depot over the weekend, officials said.

Bailey, a 7-month-old Akita Shepherd mixed breed, first disappeared on April 29, when he escaped his owner’s Red Hook yard and jumped into the Gowanus Bay, where he was spotted “swimming around” by a researcher on a barge, according to the New York Post.
The researcher got on a paddle board and herded Bailey back to shore, but the adventurous pup took off.
Bailey was missing for five days when he was spotted my motorists in the Brooklyn–Battery Tunnel on Saturday night, according to the NYPD.
Someone notified authorities after seeing video of the pup dashing through traffic in the tunnel between Red Hook and Lower Manhattan. They said they knew the owner and that the dog was missing.
Bailey took off again but reappeared around 9:15 a.m. Sunday, when the Port Authority Police Department got word of a loose dog in the north tube of the Holland Tunnel.

Port Authority officers spotted the pooch leaving the tunnel and heading into Jersey City, where he was “dashing for the parking lot of the Home Depot on 12th Street,” police said.
The officers managed to contain the pup to the second floor of the Home Depot parking garage, but he squeezed between some fencing and onto a ledge over the street.

Port Authority ESU officers notified Jersey City police and animal control before going out on the ledge and safely capturing the dog.
Video shows officers collaring the puppy on the ledge and bringing him back into the parking garage.
Bailey’s owner was notified, and the dog was released to the Liberty Humane Society for further treatment, police said.
