Cherokee Fletcher, 28, was fatally struck while standing on a sidewalk at the intersection of Motor Parkway and Moreland Road in Hauppauge at 10:15 p.m. when a vehicle traveling eastbound on Motor Parkway collided with another vehicle, Suffolk County Police said.

Madeline Henriquez, of Brentwood, left the roadway and struck the Fletcher before she sped away, police said.

Prosecutors said Henriquez then went home with a smashed front windshield and damaged passenger side of her Hyundai, called a tow truck and claimed someone hit the vehicle as it was parked at her house.

Madeline Henriquez, of Brentwood, now faces charges of second-degree manslaughter, leaving the scene of an incident involving a fatality, and tampering with physical evidence. She was released after posting a $50,000 bond.

Fletcher's fiancé, Steven Bartolomey, told WCBS 880 that he's thankful he at least "has a face to the monster that [did] this to [his] children."

Bartolomey said his children are trying to manage as best as they can since their mother's tragic killing.

"They're holding up," he added. "They're as strong as their mother and they've been holding me up."

Fifteen minutes after Fletcher was struck and killed, Tracey Dorismond was struck on Montauk Highway, near Pease Lane, by a vehicle traveling westbound, police said.

Police have not yet announced any update on the arrest of the culprit behind the 32-year-old's hit-and-run.

Suffolk County Police are asking anyone with information to confidentially call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
