NEWARK, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Officials launched an investigation after a 66-year-old woman was fatally stabbed inside a New Jersey residence earlier this week, according to acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II.
Police responded to a call at 1:41 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7 about an unresponsive woman inside of a home on Sunset Avenue in Newark, officials said.
Once inside, officers discovered Annie Gooden suffering from stab wounds, authorities said.
She was pronounced dead at about 2 p.m., police said.
There have been no arrests made and an investigation is ongoing.
