NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A woman died after the SUV she was in crashed through a fence and plunged into a creek in Westchester County on Friday, officials said.
The Jeep SUV went into the water near the Fulton Avenue Bridge at Secor Lane in Pelham Manor around 8:30 a.m., according to WABC.
The SUV was stopped at a gas pump at the nearby BJ's gas station when it “suddenly accelerated through fencing, plunging into Eastchester Creek,” Pelham Manor officials said in a Facebook post.

Pelham Manor police officer John Luiso was among the first to arrive and jumped into the water. Officials said he managed to reach the vehicle but was unable to remove the driver, who was locked inside.
Luiso was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Citizen App video shows a black SUV being pulled from the water as fire and police units from Pelham Manor, Mount Vernon and New York City responded.
“Despite the heroic efforts of first responders, the driver did not survive,” Pelham Manor officials said.
The victim was believed to be the only person in the vehicle, according to officials. She has not been identified.
Authorities are investigating what caused the vehicle to accelerate into the creek.
