DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Cowboys stellar defense lost one of its members on Sunday.
Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis will miss the rest of the season after he suffered a Lisfranc fracture in his right foot while intercepting a pass in the win over Detroit.
Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News reports that Lewis already underwent surgery for the injury.
With Dallas up 10-6 midway through the fourth quarter, Lewis made a diving catch on a Jared Goff pass. As he got up and attempted to return the ball the other way, he landed awkwardly after being pursued by multiple Lions and needed assistance off the field.
Lewis started in four of the six games he played for Dallas this season. He had 26 tackles and a sack to go with the interception on Sunday.
DaRon Bland, a fifth-round pick this year, stepped in for Lewis earlier this season when he missed the Washington game with a hamstring injury. He's expected to get more time in the slot, but the Cowboys could use Lewis' injury as an opportunity to get 2021 second-round pick Kelvin Joseph more time on the field. Joseph has been mostly limited to special teams snaps this season, where he has shined.
