The Cowboys have not ruled Gregory out for this Sunday's games against the Chargers, but it is becoming more unlikely that he'll be cleared in time to play.

"If you look at the history, it's been 10 days, pretty much, (with) everybody we've dealt with in the COVID protocol. We'll just see how it goes," McCarthy said.

Why 10 days? Mike Fisher has more on that in the video at the top of the post.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed optimism that Gregory still has a chance of being available for Sunday's game during his Tuesday morning appearance with Shan and RJ on 105.3 The Fan.

"He's doing things to give him the best chance at having a negative test," Jones said. "We'll keep testing him out there with the protocol, and keep our fingers crossed that we could get a quick bout with this COVID. I would say that it's not serious symptoms."

Gregory has been vaccinated and is experiencing little to no symptoms, meaning that he could be removed from that list and be activated to play if he returns two consecutive negative tests that are separated by 24 hours.

Should Gregory miss the game, fourth-year defensive end Dorance Armstrong will get more snaps, McCarthy said.
