DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Cowboys added a potentially major asset to their pass rush on Friday, draft Ole Miss defensive end Sam Williams with the No. 56 overall pick in the NFL Draft.
Williams now joins Tulsa offensive lineman Tyler Smith in the Cowboys 2022 rookie class, as they appear to be making a concerted effort to improve the trenches following the losses of Randy Gregory and La'el Collins.

A pass rushing specialist, the former Rebels standout 57 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 2021 in a much improved Ole Miss defense.
Williams ended his Ole Miss career with 22.5 sacks and 32.5 tackles for loss in three seasons.
Without Randy Gregory in the building, Williams could come in and immediately contribute in situational pass rush situations, while Dante Fowler, Dorance Armstrong and DeMarcus Lawrence occupy the majority of snaps.
The Cowboys will now move on to the No. 88 overall pick in Round 3, where a skill position player could be in the cards.
