DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - According to multiple reports, the Dallas Cowboys and running back Tony Pollard did not come to an agreement on a contract extension by the 3 p.m. CT deadline Monday.

Pollard will now play the 2023 season under the $10.1 million franchise tag he signed earlier this offseason.

Earlier Monday, multiple reporters, including 105.3 The Fan's Jane Slater, reported that contract talks between the Cowboys and Pollard had not progressed, and the 26 year old would play under the tag.

Pollard has now taken over lead running back duties in Dallas after the departure of long-time star Ezekiel Elliott.

Last season with the Cowboys, Pollard rushed 193 times for 1007 yards and nine touchdowns, and caught 39 passes for 371 yards and three more scores in 16 games while splitting time with Elliott.

With Pollard surely now set to get the majority of touches out of the backfield for Dallas, that production is expected to increase significantly in 2023.

Last season, tight end Dalton Schultz played his final season in Dallas on the franchise tag, before signing a free agency deal this spring with the Houston Texans.
