And while Mike McCarthy will be calling his own plays in 2023, the offensive coordinator spot will still play a critical role in both preparation and on gamedays.

Luckily for the Cowboys, they already have their eyes on a pair of up-and-coming young candidates, in Los Angeles Rams running backs coach Thomas Brown, and Carolina Panthers running backs coach, Jeff Nixon.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Wednesday at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, that the team had already interviewed both coaches to replace Moore, Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram relayed.

Brown has already interview for multiple offensive coordinator roles so far this offseason, including with the aforementioned Chargers.

Nixon, meanwhile, has also been a name to watch this offseason, leading the Panthers to a top-10 rushing offense in 2022, despite losing super star Christian McCaffrey at the trade deadline.

Nixon also has play calling experience under former Panthers head coach, Matt Rhule.
