And according to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Mavs will 'explore the possibility' of signing veteran point guard Goran Dragic to one of those spots.

Dragic, who spent the latter part of this season with the Brooklyn Nets, would provide veteran leadership and production off of a bench unit that is in desperate need of a playmaking guard.

The Mavs sent reserve point guard Trey Burke back to the Rockets as part of the deal in exchange for Wood, and with Jalen Brunson now likely to proceed as a starter heading into next season, adding another guard to the rotation will be a priority for the Mavs this summer.

It is also well publicized to this point that Dragic has an extremely close relationship with Mavs superstar Luka Doncic, thanks to their shared heritage, and their experiences together with the Slovenian national team.

Dragic was one of the few bright spots for the Nets in their playoff sweep at the hands of the Boston Celtics, averaging 10.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 19.8 minutes per game.

Should the Mavs choose to pursue Dragic, the veteran minimum could be an option, while they also have the $6.3 million Taxpayer Mid-Level Exception and a $10.9 million trade exception -- which expires before free agency -- at their disposal.
