DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Cowboys' defense was at it again on Sunday, turning over the woeful New York Giants' offense four times in their 21-6 win.

Mike Glennon, in for injured Giants' starting quarterback Daniel Jones, tossed three interceptions, and running back Saquon Barkley lost a fumble for the first time in his career on his 791st career touch.

The Cowboys' defense now has four takeaways in each of the last three games, making it the first time the defense has recorded four turnovers in three straight games since the team did it in 1994.

After the game, Cowboys' cornerback Trevon Diggs, who had his league-leading tenth interception of the season on Sunday, felt it was time to crown his unit as the NFL's best.

Defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, who helped force an interception and a fumble in the game, didn't say if he believes they have the best defense in the NFL, but he thinks it's the best defense he's ever played on, "hands down."

There's no question the defense is much improved from a season ago when they had one of the worst units in the league.

After allowing the sixth-most points per game in the NFL in 2020 (27.6), Dallas is allowing the seventh-least points per game this season (20.9).

Additionally, 105.3 The Fan's Bobby Belt notes that the Cowboys have allowed just 293 points through 14 games this season. They allowed 433 points after 14 games last season.

Dallas can thank Defensive Player of the Year candidate Micah Parsons' standout play, Dan Quinn taking over defensive coordinator duties, and their ability to create more turnovers as to why they are much improved on the defensive side of the ball.

Are they the best in the league? Maybe. Maybe not. But, one thing is for certain, this defense is going to give the Cowboys a real shot at making a deep run in the playoffs.

Up next, a matchup against the Washington Football team on Sunday Night Football.
