When and if it's healthy, which has been a big 'if' as of late, the Dallas Cowboys offensive line is one of the best units in the NFL.

However, at multiple points over the last few seasons, the line has been anything but healthy, particularly in the case of longtime starting left tackle, Tyron Smith.

And after the emergence of Terence Steele and Tyler Smith, the future of Tyron has been called into question.

However, according to Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones, the future hall of famer is expected to return in 2023.

“The biggest takeaway from our meetings was you can’t have enough of these guys," Jones told reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine.

In the case of Tyron, the main issue with keeping him aboard would be his price tag, whose cap hit is currently set for $17.6 million in 2023.

However, according to the report, Jones did not rule out the idea of a restructure Smith's contract, which could help clear up some much needed cap space for Dallas going forward.

With that said, it is unclear where the elder Smith would fit in along the front as it stands.

Tyler Smith is firmly entrenched as the starting left tackle after a stellar rookie campaign, prompting Dallas to move Tyron to right tackle upon his return from injury.

However, Steele is also arguably one of the top right tackles in the NFC when healthy, and is far younger, and less injury prone that Tyron.

Steele is coming off of a torn ACL in 2022, that ended his season, but is expected to make a full recovery.

“He’s doing unbelievable with his rehab," Jones said. "He’s done as well as anybody that we’ve ever had in terms of his rehab and his diligence. We don’t expect any hiccups there.”

Whatever the case, Tyron, when healthy himself, is still a forced to be reckoned with and will be hard to keep off of the field in 2023, should he indeed return to Dallas.
