DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Mavericks may have had a disappointing season, but general manager Nico Harrison is going to do his best to get the team back on track.

And when meeting with the media on Tuesday, Harrison admitted that the frustration felt by fans was more than warranted, and vowed to make improvements.

“To fans that are frustrated, they should be frustrated." Harrison said. "This year was not acceptable… I feel for them, and the only confidence I can give them is we’re going to evaluate everything, and we’re not going to be in this position again.”

Harrison also knows that Luka Doncic is the most important part of the puzzle, and keeping him happy is just as critical to the future of the team.

Obviously, the best way to do that, is to win.

And the best way to win, is to fill out the roster around Doncic in the right way.

"I think our job really to keep Luka happy, if you will, is surrounding him by the right players to help him win," Harrison said. "And I think Luka's a talent that deserves that."

The Mavs already took one step toward doing that, trading for Kyrie Irving in a blockbuster deadline deal.

While that has not worked out yet, Harrison believes the risk will be worth the reward, and the key going forward will be to put more pieces around Irving and Doncic to help maximize their talents.

The Mavs will get an early start to that project, as they now get to shift towards developing an offseason plan.

Part of that plan is still up in the air, at least until they find out the fate of their NBA Draft pick later this spring.

But if one thing is certain above all else in terms of the Mavs future, it is that Harrison will do everything he can to get it right.
