DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd has come under fire in recent weeks, due to the inconsistent performance of his team to start the season.
So much so, that some have begun to insinuate that Kidd is playing mind games with his players. Most notably, big man Christian Wood.
And during his Wednesday visit with K&C Masterpiece, Mavs general manager Nico Harrison gave his thoughts on the rumors, throwing his support behind Kidd.
"I think Jason is a big time coach. I think he's a really great coach. He's really a savant." Harrison said. "Jason actually gives the players tons if confidence. He's an ex player, so usually ex players are going to try and help guys be successful, and not try to diminish guys. And playing mind games is something that's diminishing and that is just not who he is as a person or as a coach."
To be fair, Kidd has been noted as having a checkered past in the way he manages his players.
So much so, that his methods were once labeled as 'psychological warfare' by one of his former players, Milwaukee Bucks superstar, Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Whatever the case, Kidd seems to have turned over a new leaf with the Mavericks, and thus far has not had anything but glowing reviews publicly from his players and staff.
Still, once has to wonder why exactly a talent such as Wood's, has not started a single game, and is only on the floor for an average of 25.6 minutes per contest.
The Mavs will be on the floor next against the Pistons on Thursday night in Detroit.
