During a recent appearance on ESPN's 'Get Up,' NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski gave the latest on where things stand regarding Kyrie Irving's chances of remaining in Dallas beyond this season.
"I think it's more likely than not Kyrie Irving stays in Dallas," Woj said. "Just because of what they invested in him. And his chance to get the kind of contract he wants... I think given of what they gave up and Dallas' track record of being willing to pay players who want to be there. I think it's more likely than not Kyrie Irving is in Dallas."
When asked before his first home game as a Maverick about his long-term plans, he politely asked the media to respect his wishes that they don't ask him about it for the rest of the season out of respect for everyone involved.
"I would love to — just out of respect of you guys and everybody else the rest of this season continuously asking me that, it just puts unwarranted distractions on us and our team," Irving said. "I've dealt with it before and it's very emotionally draining to ask questions, 'what's the long-term?' ... I will say that from the start, it's been nothing but a warm embrace, genuine love, and a familiarity of relationships I can lean into..."
On Thursday's show, Bobby Belt and RJ Choppy discussed how Irving's time with the Mavs is going thus far and what his future might hold with the organization. Listen to the podcast below.
