On Friday, Irving signed a new three-year, $126 million deal complete with a player option in the third year to stay with the franchise.
The news comes as a big win for the Mavs, who invested a good amount of capital in their trade for Irving last season.
And with speculation rising that he would try and leave to join up with other stars throughout the spring and early summer, he ultimately chose to stick with the NBA's brightest up and coming star in Doncic.
In his brief stint with Dallas after the trade, Irving played in 20 games, averaging 26.9 points, five rebounds, six assists and 1.2 steals in 38.1 minutes. He also hit 51 percent from the field and 39.2 percent from deep.
