DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Mavericks star point guard Luka Doncic has been honored for his brilliant play in December, as he was named Western Conference Player of the Month, the NBA announced Tuesday.

The K&C Masterpiece's MVP talk starts at 17:50 in the podcast below.

Doncic averaged 35.1 points on 51.9% shooting from the field and 42.4% from deep, 9.3 assists and 8.5 rebounds in 15 games last month.

Doncic scored more points in December than any other Maverick had previously scored in a single month in franchise history (min. 10 games played), according to the team's media relations staff. Dallas went 11-4 in December and has won seven straight games to improve their record to 22-16 this season, the fourth-best mark in the West.

Doncic scored 30-plus points in 12 of the 15 contests and more than 50 points on three occasions, including his career-high 60-point performance against the Knicks on Dec. 27.

Additionally, Doncic is the first player in NBA history to record 290-plus points, 70-plus rebounds and 60-plus assists over a seven-game span.

This is the third time Doncic has won the award (Nov. 2019, Feb. 2022). Dirk is the only other Maverick to win the award multiple times, accomplishing the feat six times in his career.

76ers center Joel Embiid was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Month.
