DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Could Tim Hardaway Jr. depart the Mavs in free agency this offseason? According to Greg Sylvander of 5 Reasons Sports, which was later confirmed by Farbod Esnaashari of Sports Illustrated, Hardaway is interested in joining the Miami Heat this summer.

As Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News points out, Hardaway lives in Miami during the offseason, so it would make sense that he would be interested in 'taking his talents to South Beach."

"As the beginning of free agency gets closer and closer, I can report that Tim Hardaway Jr is intrigued by the idea of landing in Miami and would love to join the Heat," Sylvander reported Tuesday.

He later added that the "timing of free agency and contract details" are seen as potential challenges in signing with the Heat, according to those close to Hardaway.

The 29-year-old guard should have several suitors in free agency after he developed into one of the league's top catch and shooter players alongside Luka Doncic this season.

In his final visit with the media before heading into the offseason, Hardaway expressed a desire to remain in Dallas, and that he'd like to continue starting.

That was a decision former head coach Rick Carlisle made at one point during the season, but that's now for Jason Kidd to decide should the Mavs newly constructed front office decide to bring him back.

In order to pursue a player such as Hardaway, who's expected to command north of $20 million per season, the Heat much first make several other roster decisions. Duncan Robinson and Kendrick Nunn are restricted free agents, while Goran Dragic and Andre Iguodala carry expensive team options (worth $19.4 million and $15 million respectively).
