Now that's the ace we saw in New York.
After not having his best stuff in his Rangers debut on Opening Day (3 2/3 innings, 4 ER, 7 Ks), deGrom's brilliance was on full display during Texas' 4-2 win over the Orioles on Wednesday afternoon at Globe Life Field.
deGrom threw four perfect innings before running into a little bit of trouble in the fifth and sixth frames. He struck out 11 and held the Orioles to two runs (1 earned) on two hits and two walks in six innings of work.
deGrom has now struck out at least 11 hitters in one game 26 times in his 10-year career, according to Statmuse.
The right-hander picked up his first win as a Ranger thanks to a Josh Jung two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning that broke a 2-2 tie.
