The Memphis Grizzlies came up just short Wednesday night at FedExForum, falling 124–122 to the Atlanta Hawks in a game that featured 21 lead changes and 14 ties. Memphis led by as many as nine and outscored Atlanta 36–28 in the third quarter, but the Hawks closed strong late.
Ja Morant led the Grizzlies with 23 points and 12 assists, adding three blocks in 30 minutes.
Jaren Jackson Jr. chipped in 17 points and six rebounds, while Jaylen Wells scored 18 and Cedric Coward added 17 off the wing. Memphis shot efficiently from the floor, but Atlanta’s balance proved decisive.
The Hawks were powered by Jalen Johnson’s monster night: 32 points, 15 rebounds, and eight assists. Atlanta also got 18 points from Onyeka Okongwu and 18 from former Grizzly Luke Kennard, who hit 4-of-5 from three.
