Following the 2022 MLB season, the Atlanta Braves were faced with the decision as to whether or not they would continue with outfielder Marcell Ozuna on the roster or move on from the 32-year-old right-hander who has had his fair share of on- and off-the-field struggles recently.
Back in August, Ozuna was dealing with his latest incident in which he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and speculation on his future with Atlanta began, with many believing the latest arrest would be enough for the Braves to part ways with Ozuna.
However, back in in early March, Braves manager, Brian Snitker told the Atlanta Journal Constitution that Ozuna would “be on our team” adding that how much playing time he would get would be based on “how well he does”.
Fast forward to present day and Ozuna is off to a rough start batting .071 through 28 plate appearances with two hits in nine games played.
“He’s been less than good for the last three years running,” 92-9 The Game’s Jon Chuckery said when going over Ozuna’s numbers for the season thus far and would later ask how long the Braves would stick with Ozuna, adding that “he’s always been a one trick pony,” as he broke down some of his career stats.
