Crosby passes Gordie Howe in all-time NHL assists

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – It was a pass ahead to Bryan Rust late in the second period that led to his goal against Toronto on Sunday as Sidney Crosby passes hockey legend Gordie Howe for 10th place on the NHL’s all-time assist list with 1,050.

Crosby tied the record with a secondary assist on Rickard Rakell’s goal for Rakell’s 500th career point. Crosby now has 46 assists on the season and 19 goals, after scoring late in the first period Sunday to give the Pens the lead. That goal moved him past Bobby Hull for 18th place on the all-time NHL goals list with 611. Former teammate Jarome Iginla and Joe Sakic are next with 625 goals.
