A lot more fans will be in the stands at PNC Park than previously thought this Spring and Summer.

On Monday, the governor’s office announced that outdoor events will allow up to 50 percent maximum occupancy “regardless of venue size,” beginning on April 4.

The maximum occupancy for PNC Park is 38,362, half of that is 19,181.

That number won’t be the number of fans allowed inside due to players, coaches, staff and PNC Park employees also counting toward that number.

PPG Paints Arena will now be allowed to allow up to 25 percent capacity, it was previously set at 15 percent.

That means about 2,800 fans have been allowed in the building for the past few games.

The Pirates home opener is April 5 against the Cincinnati Reds.

The Penguins will have eight regular season games left at PPG Paints Arena when restrictions are loosened.
