Ben Roethlisberger says maybe it’s time for the “fire Canada” crowd to back off just a bit after the Steelers offense’s performance during the fourth quarter against the Rams on Sunday.
Speaking on the Footbahlin podcast, the former Steelers quarterback asked, “Steelers looked great on offense, are we going to give Matt Canada praise, are they going to back off the ‘fire Canada’ stuff or they’re doing it every time.”
Roethlisberger says he thinks Canada called a good game in the 4th quarter.
“The runs, some of the passes, throwing those out routes, throwing go balls, throwing in breaking stuff, I thought they did good stuff.”
But another retired quarterback isn’t impressed with the offensive coordinator’s play calling, even after a successful 4th quarter.
“It is about as vanilla as it gets,” former NFL quarterback Alex Smith. “They’re the anti-Miami Dolphins it’s like they almost thing that shifts and motions and disgusting and misdirection are illegal.”
The Dolphins have motion on over 80 percent of their snaps.
Discussing it on the Fan Morning Show, Dorin Dickerson said he thought Canada was “great” in the 4th quarter, but its only 15 minutes of football.
“It’s a very easy to comprehend,” said Dickerson.
