There’s been talk of moving Joe Haden to nickel or safety as he gets old, but the 32-year-old shut down any possibility of that happening.
Speaking on the Pat McAfee show on Friday, The Steelers cornerback said he’s not moving.
“I’m playing outside corner until the wheels fall off,” said Haden.
He adds he’ll retire rather than move to one of those positions.
“Nickle’s not a thing I’m looking to do or safety,” said Haden.
Haden is going into his 12 season in the NFL and fifth with the Steelers.
Haden spent his first seven seasons with the Cleveland Browns until he was released on August 30, 2017.
He was picked up by the Steelers and has performed well at a position the Steelers have struggled at.
After an injury to Marcus Peters, Haden was named to his third Pro Bowl last season and finished 2020 with five interceptions, 65 tackles, 17 passes defended along with a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
It was revealed over a week ago that Haden is looking for a contract extension.
Haden is in the last year of his contract and will make $7 million and delivers a $15,575,000 cap hit.
