The Steelers could be without some key pieces when they take on the 1-2 New York Jets at home on Sunday.
During his weekly press conference Tuesday, Head Coach Mike Tomlin said that safety Minkah Fitzpatrick is in concussion protocol and has been in the protocol since Thursday’s loss to the Cleveland Browns.
Tomlin said he will give an update on Fitzpatrick later in the week.
Fitzpatrick has been a force on the field for the Steelers for the first three games, with 24 total tackles (14 alone in the opening win against Cincinnati), along with two interceptions (one a pick six against the Bengals), He also has two passes defended an a blocked punt that forced overtime against the Bengals in Week One.
He also hasn’t missed a snap through the first three games, being on the field for all 240 defensive snaps for Pittsburgh.
Other injuries Tomlin mentioned include cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon with a hamstring injury, offensive lineman Kevin Dotson with an ankle and punter Presley Harvin with a hip issue.
Tomlin says those injuries could limit players throughout the week.
