PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Noncommittal. How Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin answered a question about a story of an argument between Diontae Johnson and Mitch Trubisky during halftime of the Jets game.
The Post-Gazette reporting there was a confrontation between Johnson and Trubisky during the time Tomlin said he pulled Trubisky for Kenny Pickett to provide a spark for his team.
“If it were, do you think I would share it with you in this environment, probably not,” Tomlin said again when asked if it happened. “Our business is our business, I understand in today’s climate often times leaks get in the street. I’m not going to acknowledge or confirm it or deny it in these settings.”
It wouldn’t be unprecedented for receivers to be upset during or after a game due to a lack or production. At halftime of that game against New York, Johnson had a pair of targets and no receptions.
There was also a ball off of Johnson’s hands that was intercepted leading to the first points of the game. Trubisky was 7 of 13 for 84 yards in that first half as the Steelers trailed 10-6.
“The things that happen among collectives from time-to-time is normal business,” Tomlin acknowledged. “Everyone wants to win. If it transpired, it’s good. It probably means there were a couple guys that wanted to win. If it didn’t transpire, it probably means it should have because we are aggressively pursuing victory and sometimes that’s emotional.”
