Sixers loss, 3-1 series lead sparks wave of Doc Rivers trolling on Twitter

With the 76ers losing to the Raptors on Saturday afternoon, Philadelphia now returns home with a 3-1 series lead and a chance to clinch the first-round series on its own floor.

But the loss also gave NBA Twitter an opportunity to roast head coach Doc Rivers for his infamous history with 3-1 series advantages.

Rivers doesn’t have a great history with 3-1 leads. In fact, he is the only head coach in NBA history to blow three of them, the first coming way back in 2003, when his Magic couldn’t finish off the Pistons in the first round. Orlando was demolished in the final three games of the series, losing by 61 points combined.

In 2015, Rivers’ Lob City Clippers blew a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference Semifinals to the Rockets. Five years later, it happened again with Los Angeles, coughing up a 3-1 lead to the Nuggets in the conference semifinals.
