In seven games, Simmons took just three fourth-quarter shots, and did not take one in the final four fourth quarters of the series. Overall, Simmons took just 14 total shots in Games 5, 6, and 7 combined, scoring just 19 points.
With under four minutes to go in Game 7, and the Sixers trailing by just two points, Simmons spun baseline, freeing himself of Hawks forward Danilo Gallinari. But instead of laying it in or dunking it, for whatever reason, Simmons passed it to Matisse Thybulle. Joel Embiid called this the turning point of the game.
