NFL Trade Deadline: 31 players Eagles could target

The NFL Trade deadline is now less than two weeks away, and as he has been the last three years, the expectation is that Howie Roseman and his 1-4-1 Eagles will be a buyer, not a seller.

Roseman being a buyer isn’t overly surprising. The Eagles have a real chance at winning the division. They can get Carson Wentz some real playoff reps. They can get the younger players on the roster a taste of playoff football. Roseman could save his job.

The Eagles have some obvious needs on the roster, starting at linebacker, offensive tackle, backup running back, receiver and maybe even outside cornerback. With a team as injured as the Eagles, really any position — besides quarterback — is on the table.

The Eagles currently have $17 million in salary cap space, but are projected to be $68 million over the cap in 2021. They almost certainly won’t be acquiring any player that makes a substantial amount of money. A player that makes even over $1 million could be a deterrent in a trade. As for compensation, the Eagles have stated repeatedly over the last year they want to stockpile draft picks and get some youth on this roster. So giving up any pick inside of the top four rounds feels unlikely — unless it is a stud, cheap, young player.

With that in mind, any player the Eagles could target need to check the following boxes: cheap in 2020, a position of need that could help now, no long-term commitment at big money and not currently a big-time contributor to a winning team (otherwise the team wouldn’t trade that player for a low-level asset).

So who could the Eagles go after?

Here is one player on each roster that could interest them and checks off all those boxes:
