Eagles legend Jason Kelce stepped in as host of the WIP Morning Show on Wednesday and got surprise calls from both head coach Nick Sirianni and offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland.
The message from both? Please don’t retire.
“We are not ready to give him up quite yet,” Sirianni, who originally called in as “Nick from South Philly”, said.
Kelce did not say whether he had made his mind up on whether he will be back for the 2022 season, saying he would prefer to tell his teammates and coaches first before announcing his decision.
Sirianni did his best to make one final pitch to Kelce.
“Well we have talked and he knows the keg was delivered,” Sirianni said. “I got a picture of the keg at his house. He knows where he stands. He knows how important he is to this football team and he knows we are begging to get him back.”
Kelce said he used both kegs Sirianni sent to do some team bonding with his teammates at the house.
Shortly after Sirianni called in it was Stoutland who called the station unprompted, seeing what he could do to get Kelce to return for another season.
“I heard Nick Sirianni sent a keg of beer to Jason’s house,” Stoutland said. “What do I got to do to top that to get you to come back?…Unfortunately I said it that way because he is going to have me run up Broad Street naked or something crazy like that.”
