Nick Sirianni was seen on television yelling at Jalen Hurts, following his second turnover early in Tuesday night's game over Washington, a fumble in the red zone.
Sirianni discussed the exchange on Wednesday's 94WIP Morning Show.
"It was just about protecting the football and I won't obviously give you the full conversation, but it just felt like he was careless with the football on that particular play and how he was holding it," Sirianni said. "He's been so good at protecting the football when he's been moving in the pocket, having two hands on the ball. He just kind of got careless and had one hand on the ball and when you got one hand on the ball it doesn't take much to get that thing out. Now, credit to them for punching that out, I think it was [Montez] Sweat who punched that out.
It was just about protecting the football. Our defense is really playing a good game right now. We can't just hand them this game, we can't just hand them possessions, because it doesn't matter who you're playing if you start handing the other team possessions and turning the ball over you're not going to win the game. I just wanted him to re-focus on what was important and as you watched the rest of the game, credit to Jalen, he fixed that and he protected the ball the rest of the game."
As Sirianni said, Hurts rebounded beautifully, having one of his best games as a passer of his career completing 20 of 26 passes for 296 yards, 1 TD, and one fluky interception off of Dallas Goedert's foot in a 27-17 win over Washington.
The Eagles, now 7-7, face the Giants and then Washington again, before ending the regular against Dallas, with a very legitimate chance to finish as the NFC's final wildcard team.
