After two straight weeks of controversially listing the Cowboys with a higher probability to win the Super Bowl than the Eagles, ESPN's Football Power Index has finally come to their senses.
ESPN now has the Eagles with the highest probability to win the Super Bowl at 23.1-percent ahead of the Chiefs (21.7-percent), Bills (18.3-percent), and Cowboys (17.8-percent). The top four have remained above the pack for weeks now.
FiveThirtyEight.com, which has always been more kind to Philadelphia than ESPN's projections, has the Eagles listed as the most likely Super Bowl winner with a 26-percent chance. Dallas is actually the fifth most likely team in this projection at eight percent, one percent behind the Bengals.
This change comes following Jacksonville's come from behind win over the Cowboys on Sunday, plus wins by the Eagles, Chiefs, and Bills.
Of course, Dallas hosts Philadelphia for a huge NFC East Christmas Eve matchup on Saturday, but with the Cowboys' loss this week, the stakes have been downgraded. The Eagles will clinch the No. 1 seed in the NFC by winning just one of their remaining three games, calling for some to wonder if they should even go as far as resting their starters against the Cowboys.
