The Eagles and Jason Peters have agreed to a new one-year deal after his move from right guard to left tackle.

The new contract, which was announced by Peters’ agent, is a one-year, $8 million deal. Peters will get $4 million fully guaranteed.

His previous deal was a one-year, $6 million deal with $3 million guaranteed.

The bump in pay comes after Peters initial refusal to move from right guard to left tackle without a new deal. Peters was signed to play right guard for the team, but was asked to move to left tackle after Andre Dillard went down for the season.

Initially, it seemed the Eagles were not going to give in to Peters’ request for a new deal, as they spent close to a week practicing with Matt Pryor at left tackle.

On Monday morning, however, things changed.

"Jason Peters came into my office this morning and he has decided to slide over to left tackle. Listen, this is the unselfishness; this is who he is," head coach Doug Pederson said this past Monday. "When we talk about guys and we talk specifically about Jason Peters, this is who he is. He sacrifices not only his body, but for the football team. He did an outstanding job for us at right guard. It was valuable experience for him to play over there on the right side and get some interior work, but as he looks at not only where we are but where he is, he came in today and he was excited to move to left tackle and so I can announce that. I'm thrilled to death.”

Now, we know what changed — Peters got the new deal he was looking for.
