The Philadelphia Eagles could actually create a Taylor Swift backfield.
All-Pro NFL running back Jonathan Taylor has been given permission from the Indianapolis Colts to seek a trade, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Colts are reportedly seeking a first-round pick (or a collection of picks that equals one) for Taylor.
Should the Eagles pursue a trade for the 24-year-old star running back? 94WIP's Eliot Shorr-Parks thinks it is a reasonable option for Howie Roseman to consider.
Ironically, Taylor and the Colts are set to face the Eagles in joint practice this week and then the preseason finale on Thursday.
The Eagles brought in running backs Rashaad Penny and D'Andre Swift this offseason, replacing Miles Sanders who signed with the Carolina Panthers in free-agency. Penny and Swift join Kenneth Gainwell, Boston Scott, and Trey Sermon in a crowded but inexpensive backfield, as no individual aforementioned back has a 2023 cap hit more than two million dollars.
Taylor is entering the final year of his rookie contract which is worth just $7.8 million over four-years and is unhappy he did not receive an extension this offseason.
After an incredible 2021 campaign where he accumulated over 2,000 scrimmage yards and 20 total touchdowns, Taylor played just 11 games last season after suffering a high ankle sprain in December.
