Jalen Hurts was ranked as the NFL's sixth best quarterback by a panel of various league executives, coaches, scouts, and players in ESPN's annual position-by-position survey.
Here is the full QB top 10 list:
1. Patrick Mahomes
2. Joe Burrow
3. Josh Allen
4. Aaron Rodgers
5. Justin Herbert
6. Jalen Hurts
7. Lamar Jackson
8. Trevor Lawrence
9. Dak Prescott
10. Matthew Stafford
"Voters give us their 10 best players at a position, then we compile the results and rank candidates based on number of top-10 votes, composite average, along with dozens of interviews, research and film study from ESPN NFL analyst Matt Bowen. In total, more than 80 voters submitted a ballot on at least one position, and in many cases all positions. We had several ties, so we broke them with the help of additional voting and follow-up calls with those surveyed," Jeremy Fowler wrote for ESPN.com.
It is somewhat surprising to see a 39-year-old Rodgers ahead of Hurts, but it is somewhat understandable because of his body work in the NFL.
The biggest knock on Hurts is his small sample size of success, but there is no denying what Hurts has done in his short time as an NFL starting quarterback.
Last season, in 15 starts, Hurts went 14-1 with 3,701 passing yards, 22 passing touchdowns, six interceptions, and 13 rushing touchdowns in the regular season. Hurts was the MVP runner up to Patrick Mahomes.
Hurts then led the Eagles to the Super Bowl and in three playoff games, he threw for 579 yards, three touchdowns and ran for another 143 yards and five scores.
In his first season as a starter, his second NFL season, Hurts went 8-7 throwing for 3,144 yards, 16 touchdowns, and nine interceptions while rushing for 784 yards and 10 more scores.
