The Flyers have acquired 26-year-old Sewell, New Jersey native Tony DeAngelo from the Carolina Hurricanes for three draft picks, the team announced on Friday.

The Flyers have reportedly signed DeAngelo to a two-year, $10 million extension.

"We're very happy to add Tony to our team and I know he is very excited to join the Flyers," said Chuck Fletcher. "We did our due diligence and we strongly believe in Tony and his ability to help our team. He is a right-handed shot who moves the puck extremely well and will drive offense from the back end for us."

DeAngelo had 10 goals and 41 assists in 64 games with Carolina last season, plus 10 postseason points in 14 games.

In 2020 with the New York Rangers, DeAngelo was benched of taking an undisciplined unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and then, after a reported physical altercation with the Rangers goalie, DeAngelo was placed on waivers.
