Kyle Schwarber is on an absolute tear. After two more homers last night, he now has 27, which is the most ever for a player's first 80 games with the Phillies.

With Bryce Harper out of the lineup with a broken thumb, Schwarber has been leading off, and 15 of his 27 home runs have been solo shots.

Angelo Cataldi asked Phillies senior advisor, former manager and great player Larry Bowa if Schwarber should be hitting third or fourth instead.

"We'd love him to hit third or fourth, especially with Harp out, but the fact that we really—I think he's helping us right," Bowa said on Thursday. "This guy is on fire right now. I haven't seen anybody put together a streak like this. And not only is he a great player, but he's a great guy.

"He likes where he's hitting right now. And when a guy is that hot, just leave him there. But I agree, hey. If we had a legit (leadoff hitter), I'm talking about a guy that we know has got some speed at the top of the order, can steal some bags, I agree with you. But right now the way our lineup is situated I would leave him there. Dave Dombrowski, he likes to pull the trigger on trades, so we don't know what's going to happen here at the end of month or beginning of August, I should say. We might get someone like that."

Schwarber's 27 home runs lead the National League and he's now just four home runs short of tying the Phillies franchise record for most home runs before the All-Star break.
