The Philadelphia Phillies are listed as the "ideal" fit for a Paul Goldschmidt trade by Manny Randhawa of MLB.com.
"Goldschmidt is also under contract through the 2024 campaign, so that covers the Phils with Hoskins scheduled to become a free agent after this season," Randhawa notes.
94WIP's Joe Giglio agrees, opining this week that he believes the Phillies should prioritize adding Goldschmidt over a fifth starter in the rotation.
"Adding Paul Goldschmidt would almost be like brining back Rhys Hoskins, but 30-percent better or so at the plate and world's better in the field," Giglio said.
While the Phillies certainly have a potent lineup on paper, they're merely tied for 18th in MLB in home runs this season.
Goldschmidt is 35-years-old, but he is coming off of an MVP season. This year, he's slashing .288/.382/.488 with 11 home runs and 31 RBI in 67 games.
