Steph’s parents were there. Ray Allen was there. Reggie Miller was there. His teammates and coaches were there. Spike Lee was there. Pete Davidson was there. Everyone was there except Klay Thompson.
When Steph Curry made NBA history Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden by becoming the all-time 3-point king, his beloved Splash Brother was on the West Coast, rehabbing with the Santa Cruz Warriors. Steve Kerr and Draymond Green both lamented Thompson’s absence, as he was relegated to a postgame FaceTime with his teammates.
On Wednesday, Thompson shared a special message for his Splash Bro Steph, via Instagram.
Now that the Curry Countdown is over, the Klay Countdown is on.
It seems like Thompson’s go-to phrase to describe his comeback this season is “Winter is coming.” His return date is still unknown at this point.
The Athletic reported a few weeks back that Thompson could rejoin the Warriors as soon as the upcoming two-game homestand. Golden State hosts the Sacramento Kings Monday and the Memphis Grizzlies next Thursday, but that seems like an aggressive timeline given the recent comments from Warriors leadership.

Warriors general manager Bob Myers told 95.7 The Game Tuesday that the team hadn’t "decided internally" about Thompson’s return date yet. On Wednesday, Warriors coach Steve Kerr used the phrase “next few weeks” when describing a timeframe for Thompson’s comeback.
The finish line may be in sight as Thompson ramps up his conditioning, but Dub Nation may need to practice a little more patience before seeing the Splash Brothers back in action together.
