Christine’s Book Club July pick is here and it’s a historical fiction feast for the imagination — The Beach at Summerly by Beatriz Williams. Christine Chatted with Bank Square Books owner Annie Philbrick about this month’s pick, which she says is the perfect summer read, adding it makes the book even more interesting knowing the author lives right here in Connecticut! “The book is set on the backdrop of what seems to be Fishers Island off the coast of Connecticut…The Beach at Summerly involves spies, it’s starts with World War II and moves into 1954. It’s summer wealth. It's romance. It’s suspense. And as the New York Times says, it’s a book to recapture delicious freedom we used to feel when the days became longer and warmer and we were joyful and in love.’ Annie adds that last month’s book club author, Elin Hilderbrand, is quoted for the book too saying that “Beatriz Williams is one of the best historical fiction writers of our time.” Listen to the full interview with Christine and Annie below and don’t forget to support your local independent books stores by getting your copy of The Beach at Summerly at Bank Square Books in-store or online.
