Governor Parson says Missouri special session unlikely

Governor Mike Parson joins The Marc Cox Morning Show in the final week of Missouri's legislative session.

As the week winds down, the pressure to move legislation ramps up. With so much on the table Missourians are wondering if lawmakers will need more time.

"I don't think the General Assembly wants to go into a special session," says Parson.

There is a 'huge' budget on the Governor's desk. Parson says the proposed budget is upward of two billion dollars over his recommendation.

"Believe me, it's going to get an overhaul before it gets done."

Meanwhile, St. Louisans are eagerly awaiting the appointment of the next St. Louis City Circuit Attorney.

"We've got a tough mountain to climb in a short period of time and we've got to get that right," says Parson candidly.

The city is facing a backlog of cases and this appointment could mean and opportunity for change.

"We should be thinking about them [victims and families] as priority number one."
